First edition, first printing. Published by Brockhampton Press in Leicester, 1958. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, illustrated by Leslie Stead, is worn at the spine tips and rubbed at the edges. There is a spot of blue ink at the tail of the spine. There is a mark on the front panel. The rear panel is with handling marks. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 8/6 net price. The boards, embossed with publisher’s emblem in a fine arrangement and are so slightly bumped at the spine tips. The text blocks are foxed. It is free from previous owners ink and inscriptions. Overall, this is a very good copy.

Fritz Lowenhardt, the nephew of Erich von Stalhein, visits Biggles. Lowenhardt tells Biggles that von Stalhein is now a political prisoner on the island of Sakhalin off the coast of Siberia. This is because Biggles has always beaten von Stalhein in their encounters and it is suspected that von Stalhein has been passing information to him. Lowenhardt warns Biggles that Biggles’ life is in danger as there is a plot to assassinate him.
