First edition, first printing of ‘Reach for the Sky’ by Paul Brickhill, published by Collins in London, 1954. This is a very good copy free from internal inscriptions, boards bound in publisher’s original navy blue cloth with gilt titling to the spine, the spine is toned and has wear to the top and tail, bumping to the corners, the text block browning. The very good unclipped wrapper with browning to the spine and rear panel, rubbing and wear to the head and foot of the spine and knuckles of the front and rear flap folds.

Biography of an English hero in World War II who lost both legs in an air crash, learned to walk again, and became a fighter pilot during the Battle of Britain. He was captured but managed to escape from the enemy.
