First edition, first printing of ‘Reach For The Sky’ by Paul Brickhill, published by Collins in London, 1954, photographically illustrated throughout. This is a very good copy with internals free from inscriptions, bound in publisher’s original blue cloth boards, with gilt titling to the spine, slight tarnish to the gilding, pushing to top corner of front panel, the text block with mild browning to the top edge. The very good unclipped wrapper has some loss and edgewear especially to the browned spine.

Reach for the Sky by Paul Brickhill is the inspiring biography of Douglas Bader, a British fighter pilot who overcame the loss of both legs to become a World War II flying ace. The book chronicles Bader’s early life, his determination to return to flying and his heroic exploits in the Royal Air Force. Bader’s courage, resilience and indomitable spirit make his story a powerful testament to human endurance and the triumph over adversity.
