Olivia Manning – The Battle Lost and Won – SIGNED & INSCRIBED First Edition 1978
£285.00
A first edition, first printing of The Battle Lost and Won by Olivia Manning, published by Heinemann in 1978. A near fine book inscribed by the author on the front free end paper and signed by the author on the title page in blue ink, with pushing to the head and foot of the spine, slight browning to the text block, trace of spotting to front paste down and free end paper. In a very good unclipped wrapper with chipping to the spine tips, knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, fading to the spine and open tear to the upper edge of the rear panel.
The Battle Lost and Won by Olivia Manning is the second novel in her Balkan Trilogy. Set during World War II, it follows the experiences of Harriet and Guy Pringle, a British couple in Bucharest, as they navigate the chaos of the war’s progression. The novel vividly portrays the instability and uncertainty of life during wartime, capturing the personal and political conflicts that shape the characters’ lives amid the larger historical turmoil.
