A first edition, first printing, published by Methuen in 1956. A very good book with W.H. Smith circulation library bookplate on the front paste down, internals free from inscriptions, some browning and spotting to the text block, with front board and rear panel in general good condition with fading to the spine and slight pushing to the corners at head and foot of the spine. In a very good unclipped dust wrapper with small tear to the base of the front panel, some internal browning and spotting, chips to the head and foot of the spine, with some minor chips to the knuckle of the front flap fold and foot of the rear flap fold. Jacket design by Gerald Parkinson.

Death in Retirement is a riveting mystery novel that follows Dr. David Wintringham, a retired physician, who finds himself entangled in a murder investigation while vacationing in Cornwall. When a wealthy widow dies under suspicious circumstances, Wintringham’s medical expertise and keen intuition are put to the test as he delves into the complex motives and secrets of the seaside community. Bell weaves a tale of intrigue, suspense and unexpected twists, keeping readers guessing until the very end.
