A first edition, first printing of What is Coming? by H. G. Wells, published by Cassell, London in 1916. A very good book without inscriptions, boards bound in dark green cloth with debossed titling to the front board, gilt titling to the spine with some tarnishing, rubbing to head of the spine and the corners of boards, toning to the text block, a former retail label to the rear paste-down.

What Is Coming? by H. G. Wells is his analysis of the forces shaping the world during World War I and his predictions for the post-war future. He argues that modern warfare, technological change and mass democracy will reshape global politics. Wells calls for international co-operation, social planning and educational reform to prevent future catastrophes. Blending prophecy and advocacy, the book outlines his belief that only a rationally organised world community can secure lasting peace and human progress.
