First edition, first printing of The Fabulous Mrs V by H. E. Bates, published by Michael Joseph, London, in 1964. This is a near fine copy without internal inscriptions, the head of the spine slightly pushed, the text blocks with browning and minor spotting. The near fine price clipped wrapper with browning to the spine, chips to the head and foot of the spine and to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, chipping and tear to the upper edge of the front panel, tear to the lower edge and with two internal repairs, some browning throughout. Wrapper designed by Kenneth Farnhill.
First published in 1964, The Fabulous Mrs. V by H. E. Bates is a late collection of twelve stories celebrating comedy and Bates’s ability to paint amusing, idiosyncratic women.
