First edition, first printing, published by John Murray in London, 1957. This is a very good copy, the boards are free from notable chips and marks, with some browning and spotting to the text block and water stain to the top edge, internals free from inscriptions and in general good condition. The good unclipped dust wrapper with internal water stain on rear panel and chips to the head and foot of the spine, with some minor chips to the knuckle of the front and rear flap folds. The author’s third work.

Those Without Shadows is a thought-provoking exploration of identity and existential angst. Set in post-World War II France, the novel follows an affluent couple, Gilles and Geneviève, as they grapple with the emptiness of their privileged existence. Their world is shattered when a mysterious stranger, Hélène, enters their lives, prompting a series of introspective reflections on love, morality and the search for meaning. Sagan’s evocative prose and complex characters offer a poignant examination of the human condition.
