First edition, first printing of Fail-Safe by Eugene Burdick and Harvey Wheeler, published by Hutchinson, London in 1963. A near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, slight pushing to head of the spine, foxing and toning to the text block and some light spotting to the prelims. In a very good price clipped wrapper with chipping to the spine tips, chipping to the knuckles of front and rear flap folds and shelf wear to upper and lower edges of front and rear panels, toning to the flap folds and creasing to the lower corner of rear flap fold.

Fail-Safe by Eugene Burdick and Harvey Wheeler is a Cold War-era political thriller exploring the terrifying possibility of accidental nuclear war. When a technical malfunction sends a U.S. bomber group to attack the Soviet Union, American leaders scramble to prevent global catastrophe. The novel delves into the tension, ethics and fallibility of military systems and command decisions. With chilling realism, it underscores the fragile balance of power and the devastating consequences of human and technological error.
