First edition, first printing. Published by MacMillan & Co Ltd in London, 1949. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, profusely illustrated by Stuart Tresilian, has some very slight rubbing and closed tears to the spine tips, top edge and the corners. It has not been price clipped. The illustrated boards, in the publishers cloth, have a slight lean though are else free from notable chips and marks. There is a previous owners inscription to the front fly leaf, which is also slightly foxed. The text blocks are bright and white throughout. The internals are mostly clean, though slightly foxed to the preliminaries. This copy is in near fine condition. A collectable book.
