A first edition, first printing of Necessary Doubt by Colin Wilson, published by Arthur Barker in 1964. A very good book, with dedication signed and dated by the author in blue ink on the front free end paper, the text blocks with some minor spotting, the front board and rear panel in general good condition with slight pushing to the head and foot of the spine and front board corners. In a very good unclipped dust wrapper with some fading to the spine, slight chips to the head and pushing to the foot of the spine, a minor tear to the upper edge of front panel, with some wear to the front panel graphics. Jacket design by Jack Larkin.

Necessary Doubt by Colin Wilson argues that scepticism is vital for intellectual growth and understanding. Wilson contends that questioning established beliefs stimulates curiosity and drives progress, encouraging individuals to explore new ideas and challenge existing paradigms. By embracing doubt, he suggests, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for complexity and ambiguity, fostering a more nuanced comprehension of reality. Wilson advocates for a balanced approach to scepticism, one that promotes open-minded inquiry while remaining receptive to new insights and perspectives.
