A first edition, first printing published by Batsford in 1943. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper is finely illustrated by Beaton but suffers from rubbing at the corners and slight separation at the top and tail of the spine. It has not been price clipped. The internals are slightly rippled, presumably with age, but remain bright and free from foxing. The top text block is slightly yellowed, but the bottom and side blocks are bright and white. This copy is free from previous owner’s ink and is, overall, a very good copy, uncommon in this complete condition.
