A small pen and ink sketch of Christopher Robin, signed by the artist, E H Shepard on card 105mm x 60mm. The sketch comes together with a manuscript note ‘with [heart] and xx from Christopher Robin’ on paper headed with the artists ‘Long Meadow’ address and telephone number. Single original pieces of Shepard’s artwork are exceptionally rare.

Ernest Howard Shepard was an English artist and book illustrator. He is known especially for illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal characters in ‘The Wind in the Willows’ and ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’. Single original pieces of artwork are exceptionally rare.

Christopher Robin Milne (1920 – 1996) was an English author and bookseller and the only child of author A. A. Milne. As a child, he was the basis of the character Christopher Robin in his father’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories and in two books of poems.
