A first edition, first printing, published by Hamish Hamilton in 1947. A very good book with internals free from inscriptions, some spotting, ghosting and browning on the front and rear free end papers, browning and spotting to the text block, with front board and rear panel in general good condition with slight pushing to the corners and head of the spine. In a very good unclipped dust wrapper with some browning to the spine, chips to knuckles of front and rear upper and lower panel folds, chips and tear to the head of the spine and chips to the foot, with some pushing along top edge of front and rear panels and small tear to the base of the front panel. Jacket design by Michael Ayrton.

The Intrigue is a gripping tale of espionage and betrayal set against the backdrop of World War II. As the Nazis tighten their grip on France, intelligence officer Henri Bachelier is tasked with unravelling a web of deceit within the Resistance. Amidst the danger and uncertainty of wartime, Bachelier must navigate a maze of secrets and loyalties, risking everything to uncover the truth. Natanson’s novel is a compelling exploration of honour, sacrifice and the shadowy world of espionage.
