First edition, first printing. Published by The Bodley Head in London, 1961. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper, plainly designed and displaying the titles, is printed on thick yellow paper. The top right-hand corner is marked and there are sparse closed tears at both edges. It has been price clipped. It is beautifully bound in quarter red cloth and marbled paper with gilt titling fresh at the spine. The text blocks are foxed. There is a birthday inscription to the verso of the front fly in blue ink. It is free of subsequent inscriptions and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition.

Greene’s journals, created while producing two novels set in Africa: A Burnt-Out Case, set in the Belgian Congo, and The Heart of the Matter, set in Sierra Leone.
