First edition, first printing of Leaf Storm by Gabriel García Marquez, published by Cape, London in 1972. A near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, boards slightly cocked and bound in publisher’s original green cloth, with gilt titling to the spine, some pushing to the head of the spine and spotting to the fore-edge of text block, some further spotting to prelims. In a near fine unclipped wrapper, chipping to the spine tips and knuckles of front and rear flap folds, light fading to the spine, spotting to front and rear flaps.

Leaf Storm by Gabriel García Márquez is his debut novella, introducing the fictional town of Macondo. Told through the perspectives of a colonel, his daughter and grandson, it centres on the burial of a despised doctor, exploring memory, isolation and moral duty. The story reflects the clash between personal obligation and public resentment. With non-linear narration and lyrical prose, Márquez sets the stage for his later works, blending realism with symbolic depth in a tale of decay and silence.
