A first edition, first printing of One-Way Song by Wyndham Lewis, published by Faber and Faber in 1933, containing the poems Engine Fight-Talk, The Song of the Militant Romance, If So The Man You Are, One-Way Song and Envoi. A very good book in beige cloth, with darkening to book spine and edges, blue titles remain clean and vibrant, the deckle edge text block clean throughout save some minor browning, the front board and rear panel in general good condition, some minor pushing to the head and foot of the spine. In a very good unclipped wrapper with chipping to the head and foot of the spine, chipping to knuckles of front and rear flap folds, a small open tear to the front panel and browning to the spine and flap folds. The wrapper illustrated by the author.
One-Way Song by Wyndham Lewis is a striking blend of poetry and prose, reflecting the author’s avant-garde style and satirical edge. Published in 1933, it critiques the mechanisation and conformity of modern society. Lewis’ vivid, fragmented language and innovative structure mirror the chaos and alienation of the industrial age, making a bold statement on individualism and artistic integrity amidst societal pressures. The work exemplifies Lewis’ unique voice within the Vorticist movement.
