First edition, first printing. Published by the Brockhampton Press in Leicester, 1964. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, designed by Leslie Stead, has some wear at the edges and rubbing at the spine tips. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 8/6 net price. The boards are free from notable chips and marks. The text blocks are white throughout, with some toning at the top corner. It has no internal inscriptions and is in very good condition.
Biggles is sent to try to find 20,000 missing gold sovereigns. In 1942, when Singapore was being evacuated prior to the Japanese invasion, the sovereigns were loaded on a schooner called the Vagabond, but after putting to sea, the boat was never seen again.
