First UK Edition, first printing published by Faber in 1955. A very good book with no inscriptions. No marks to the boards but some fading on the spine and some browning to the text block. In a near fine unclipped supplied wrapper with some internal ghosting and small tear to the head of the spine, with vibrant vivid colours designed by Charles Mozley.

Death and the Night Watches delves into the profound mysteries surrounding mortality and the human condition. Through a series of haunting vignettes set against the backdrop of the night, Bell explores themes of loss, grief and the passage of time. Each tale offers a poignant reflection on the transient nature of life and the inevitability of death, inviting readers to contemplate the deeper significance of existence in the silence of the night.
