A first edition, first printing of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ by J R R Tolkien, first paperback edition, published by George Allen and Unwin in 1968 – the first complete collection of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ – Containing the trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring / The Two Towers / The Return of the King and preceding the Deluxe Edition of 1969. This, a beautifully clean copy, without inscriptions. , marks etc. Rebound in beautiful red Morocco leather with five raised bands, with gilt tooling and titling and marbled endpapers. With the ‘Eye of Sauron’ vignette to the front board. Enclosed in a custom-made slip case, mirroring the red leather of the book and also with ‘Sauron’ vignette to the front panel. A beautiful example and stunning rebind – a must for any Tolkien fans.
