The Countess of Jersey – Maurice or The Red Jar – First Edition 1894
£125.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Macmillan and Co. in London, 1894. This is a near fine copy. Issued without a dust wrapper. The green clothbound boards are striking with a fine gilt titular motif on the front panel. There is an area of toning to the top and right-hand edges, presumably from being shelved. The spine is also sunned but remains legible with a nice gilt title. There is a previous owners ink stamp to the half title in purple ink. The text blocks are gilt and remain bright on the side edge, but slightly toned on the top. There are some areas of browning to the internal pages. The frontispiece is clean and in fine condition. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a stunning production.
Or, A Tale of Magic and Adventure for Boys and Girls.
