A beautifully rebound leather volume of the 1991 film script of ‘Hook’, published privately by Amblin Entertainment. The front board is embossed with the name Anthony Powell and was given as a gift by the movie’s star, Robin Williams. Anthony Powell was the movie’s costume designer and won three Academy Awards during his career, as well as designing wardrobes for the films ‘Papilllon’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’. The book is inscribed on the first endpaper by Robin Williams and reads: ‘Anthony/Green tights/20ft green leather and Armani/ Not a bad way to spend the Summer/Thank you/for your magic/ Robin/.
“Hook,” directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1991, achieved success for its imaginative take on J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan tale. Starring Robin Williams as an adult Peter Pan, the film blends fantasy with heartfelt themes of rediscovering the magic of childhood. Despite initial mixed reviews, “Hook” resonated with audiences, becoming a box office hit and earning over $300 million worldwide. Williams’ charismatic performance, Dustin Hoffman’s memorable portrayal of Captain Hook, and Spielberg’s direction contributed to the film’s enduring popularity. While criticised by some for deviations from the original story, “Hook” remains a cherished and nostalgic classic for many viewers. The book is a superb association to the film.
