Annie, a disturbed former nurse, forces Paul to write a new novel reviving her favourite character, Misery Chastain. As Paul realises the extent of Annie’s madness, he struggles to escape her clutches. The novel explores themes of obsession, captivity and the terrifying power of a fan’s fixation
