First edition, first printing. Published by Macmillan & Co. in London, 1910. This is a very good copy. The red clothbound boards are slightly rubbed in places and the front gilt motif is slightly worn. The title remains bright on the spine. The top and tail of the spine are slightly bumped. The internals are mostly clean, but the front flyleaf and pastedown are toned. No inscriptions. Neat bookplate to pastedown. The text blocks are markedly clean and the gilt top edge bright. Overall, this is a very good copy of a nice title. Sadly lacking the dust wrapper.

The first appearance of Kipling’s poem ‘If’: “If you can keep your head when all about you/ Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,/ If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,/ But make allowance for their doubting too”
