First edition, first printing. Published by Cassell in London, 1958. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper, plainly designed with a quirky title, is worn at the spine tips and has mild handling marks to both panels. The spine is slightly sunned. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 30/- net price. The boards, in the publishers green buckram, are sunned at the tail of the spine. The gilt titling is bright and the corners are so slightly bumped. The text blocks are mostly clean, though with some spotting to the side block. There are some darker marks to the bottom edge. The internals are free from previous owners ink. It is accompanied by a Sunday Times clipping, showcasing a Portrait Gallery article on the author, with a photographic portrait by Douglas Glass. Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy.
A collection of stories, talks, essays, poems and studies in history.
