Roald Dahl [Walt Disney] – The Gremlins – First UK Edition 1944
£650.00
First UK edition, first printing. Published by Collins, London, in 1944. This is a good copy. Issued without a wrapper, the pictorial cloth backed boards, illustrated by Al Dempster, show heavy wear, but are generally clean. There are instances of heavy rubbing and creasing at the corners and slight toning too. The end papers are present in yellow, brown and red – some separation and patches of rubbing patches. The internals are generally clean but with slight toning present. The cloth spine is toned and appears soiled, however is mostly intact but with some slight areas of separation. Overall, this is a good copy of the author’s first novel.
Dahl’s first book and it was written for Walt Disney Productions, in anticipation of a feature-length animated film that was never made.
