Roald Dahl [Quentin Blake] – The BFG – First UK Edition 1982
£475.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Jonathan Cape in 1982. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper is slightly worn throughout, with surface scratching, bumping at the corners and spine tips. It has not been price clipped, though the front flap is creased. The boards are free from notable wear, though the spine tips are typically bumped. There is a small previous owners label to the front fly, named ‘Caroline King’. The internals, aside from this, are free from previous owners ink and inscriptions. The text blocks are not foxed though so slightly toned. Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy.
It is an expansion of a short story from Dahl’s 1975 book Danny, the Champion of the World. The book is dedicated to Dahl’s late daughter, Olivia, who died of measles encephalitis at the age of seven in 1962.
