Roald Dahl [Quentin Blake] – The BFG – First Edition 1982
£385.00
A first edition, first printing of The BFG by Roald Dahl, published by Cape in 1982. A very good copy with gift inscription and bookplate to the front free endpaper. The boards bound in publisher’s original grey cloth with gilt titling to the spine, some pushing to the head and foot of the spine, pushing to the corners, minor bumping to lower edge of front board and the text blocks slightly toned. The very good unclipped wrapper with a little wear to the extremities. A very presentable copy.
The BFG by Roald Dahl is a whimsical children’s novel about a young orphan girl named Sophie who befriends the Big Friendly Giant (BFG). Unlike other giants who eat humans, the BFG is gentle and kind, catching dreams to spread to children. Together, Sophie and the BFG devise a plan to stop the other giants from terrorising the world; their adventure leads them to the Queen of England, who helps them save the day. The story is filled with imaginative language and heart-warming moments.
