Mara Wilson is the former child actress famous for playing the title role in the 1996 film Matilda. Directed by Danny DeVito, the movie adapted the classic Roald Dahl children’s novel about a highly intelligent little girl with telekinetic powers who uses her abilities to overcome her neglectful parents and tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. The role marked the peak of Wilson’s acting career before she retired from acting shortly thereafter.
