First edition, first printing. Published by Hamish Hamilton in London, 1964. This is a very good copy. First issue, not showing ‘second issue’ on the dust wrapper. The wrapper is creased and has edgewear as well as browning to the end flaps. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 21s. net price. The red clothbound boards are free from chips and marks. Internally, there is an ownership inscription and two vertical toned strips to pastedowns. Overall, this is a very good copy.
A collection of short stories, including the eponymous title story. The collection features eight short stories originally published in pulp magazines between 1935 and 1941.
