First edition, first printing. Published by Hamish Hamilton, London, in 1978. This is a very good/near fine copy. The illustrated paper covered boards are bright and clean. They are generally without chips and marks but there is a little pushing to the top and tail of the spine. The internals are bright, clean and free from spotting. There are no traces of previous owners inscriptions and overall, this copy is in near fine condition.

The runner-up for the Kate Greenaway Medal from the Library Association, recognising the year’s best children’s book illustration by a British writer. In the United States, it was named to the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award list in 1979. The Snowman remains one of the best loved children’s books of all time and was made into a successful television symphonic animation in 1982.
