First edition, first printing. Published by Rupert Hart-Davis in London, 1958. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, plain in white with titular white boxes, has some slight rubbing at the top and tail edges. The spine tips are slightly worn and the spine slightly sunned. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 9s 6d net price. The band itself, famously yellow with black letter, is slightly sunned at the spine but otherwise fine, showing on the inside flap the author and collection, accompanied by the price of 9s 6d net. The boards, mirroring the wrapper design, are sharp at the corners though slightly bumped at the spine tips, markedly clean and bright throughout. The text blocks are markedly clean throughout, though with a few spots on the top edge. It is accompanied by a Times Literary Supplement article on ‘Regional Poets’, citing ‘Poetry for Supper’ in its subtitle. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a fine work of poetry, accompanied by the scarce wraparound band.
The author’s fifth publication. A beautiful collection of contemplative regional poetry.
