A first edition, first printing of ‘The Dam Busters’ published by Evans in 1951. A very good book with some newspaper articles about the Dam Busters to the prelims with a bookplate of Alan R Wylie. In very good unclipped wrapper with a small patch to the head of the front panel. Rubbing to edges and a little light loss to the edges.

The Dam Busters were Royal Air Force (RAF) 617 Squadron, formed in 1943 during World War II. They gained fame for Operation Chastise, a daring mission targeting German dams using specially designed “bouncing bombs” developed by Barnes Wallis. Led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson, the squadron breached the Möhne and Edersee dams, causing significant flooding and disruption to German industry. The mission showcased exceptional bravery and innovation, becoming one of the most iconic raids of the war.
