A first edition, first printing of Voss by Patrick White, published by Eyre & Spottiswoode in 1957. A near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, pushing to head of the spine, bumping to the upper and lower corners of front board, similarly bumping to lower corner of rear board, toning to the text block and ghosting to front free end paper. In a near fine unclipped wrapper with fading to the spine, chipping to spine tips and knuckles of front and rear flap folds, bumping and losses to upper edge of front and rear panels, rubbing to hinges of flap folds with small open tears to rear hinge.

Voss by Patrick White is a novel inspired by German explorer Ludwig Leichhardt. It follows Johann Ulrich Voss, who leads an ill-fated expedition across the Australian interior, paralleled by his spiritual bond with Laura Trevelyan, a young woman in Sydney. Though separated physically, their connection deepens through letters and imagination. The novel intertwines themes of ambition, obsession, love, faith and human frailty, portraying exploration as both external conquest and inner struggle against the vastness of existence.
