First edition, first printing. Published by Peter Owen in London, 1960. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper, plainly designed by Paul Oliver, is generally clean but with some slight spots of browning. There is slight rubbing to the right handside of the front panel, and light crumpling to the top of the spine. It has not been price clipped and is with the original 18s net price. The brown cloth boards are without notable chips and marks aside from the aforementioned crumpling to the top. The text blocks are white and generally clean but with slight toning present. There is a small previous owners inscription on both the front and rear end papers in blue ink. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a nice title.
A discussion of Emily Brontë, the “most outstanding” of the sisters.
