A first UK edition, first printing published by Allen Lane in 1983. A near fine book with a gift inscription to the reverse of the front free end paper which reads “Happy birthday Nick. Eleven years old today. 1.7.85. Mum and Dad”. Some slight bumping and fading to the spine tips. Slight lean. Clean and bright internally. In a like unclipped wrapper with some slight chipping to the head and base of the spine.
Printed using red and green text; the red writing to represent the story lines which take place in the human world, and the green writing to represent Fantastica. There have been several film adaptions, one in 1984, directed by Wolfgang Peterson, starring Barret Oliver and Noah Hathaway.
