Maxwell Knight – Animals and Ourselves – First Edition 1962 – with illustrations by David Cornwall (John le Carre)
£400.00
A first edition, first printing published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1962. A very good book without inscriptions – some spotting to the page edges. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some wear to the spine tips and corners. Spotting to the rear flap fold.
Maxwell Knight was a British spymaster, naturalist and broadcaster, reputedly a model for the James Bond character “M”. He played major roles in surveillance of an early British Fascist party as well as the main Communist Party.
This book, as with others was illustrated by a talented young illustrator, David Cornwall, soon to become the talented young espionage writer, John Le Carre.
