First UK edition, first printing of Stride Towards Freedom by Martin Luther King, published by Victor Gollancz in London, 1959. A near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, the original red cloth covered boards with tarnished gilt titling to the spine, some toning and light spotting to the text block. The very good unclipped wrapper with browning to the spine and front and rear flap folds, chipping to the head and foot of the spine and knuckles of front and rear flap folds, an open tear to the lower edge of rear panel.

Stride Toward Freedom by Martin Luther King is a powerful memoir detailing the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1956. King recounts the events that led to the boycott, the unity and resilience of the African American community, and the non-violent philosophy that guided their struggle for justice. The book provides a personal and historical account of the civil rights movement, highlighting the challenges and triumphs in the fight against racial segregation and inequality.
