First edition, first printing. Published by Jonathan Cape in London, 1976. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, illustrated with a photograph by Adrian Flowers and designed by Raymond Hawkey, has some hairline creases present. There is light shelf wear at the edges and slight toning to the top of both flaps – internal repair to the top of the front panel. It has not been price clipped. The boards are pristine and free from notable marks, although there is staining. The text blocks are bright and white throughout. This copy is free from inscriptions and is in very good condition.
A Russian scientist defects, believing that in the West he will more easily realise his dream of contacting planets in outer space. But British Intelligence and the CIA have more worldly plans for him and move quickly and relentlessly, leaving behind a trail of blood across three continents.
