During the COVID-19 pandemic, this led to viral speculation that Koontz had “predicted” the outbreak. However, similarities are superficial—Wuhan-400 is a man-made, deadly virus with different traits. The original virus in early editions was called “Gorki-400,” later changed to Wuhan for political reasons.
