A first edition, first printing of Born Free by Joy Adamson, published by Collins & Harvill in London, 1960, illustrated with colour and black and white photographs throughout. This is a near fine copy, accompanied by a SIGNED photograph, inscribed ‘Good wishes/Virginia McKenna’, to the front free end paper, including an associated Born Free Foundation flyer inscribed and signed by McKenna in black ink, with very slight browning to head of the spine and pushing to the foot of the spine, in pictorial cloth bound boards, with toning to the top edge of text block and small damp stains to the fore edge. The near fine unclipped wrapper slightly shelf-worn, with some mild bumping to the upper and lower edges, chipping to the spine tips and knuckles of the front and rear flap folds and crease to the lower edge of the rear panel.
