A first edition of the 1983 reissue, published by Gollancz. A very good book with slight bumping to the head of the spine, an obscured Ex Libris bookplate on the front paste down, otherwise free from internal inscriptions, with browning to the top edge of the text block, the remainder of the text block bright and crisp. The very good unclipped wrapper with small tear to the front panel knuckle fold and some very slight pushing to the head and foot of the spine and knuckle folds on the rear panel.
Le Carre’s first novel which introduces the reoccurring character, George Smiley.
