John Braine – From The Hand of The Hunter – SIGNED – First US Edition 1960
£475.00
A first US edition, first printing published by Houghton Mifflin Company. Signed by the author with dedication, in 1983.
A good copy with fading to the front and rear boards. Some wear to the head and base of the spine with a small tear to the cloth. Partial removal by previous owner of book plate to front endpaper. Discolouring to the text block and some spotting internally. Binding is a little loose. In a near fine wrapper with a rough patch of rubbing to the front/rear covers and spine.
The novel tells the story of a man’s heroic fight against the love of failure, which is in complete contrast to the theme of Braine’s first, and best known, novel, Room at the Top, which centered on the need for success.
