First edition, first printing of ‘Three Men in a Boat’ [with] ‘Three Men on the Bummel’. Published by Arrowsmith in London, 1889 and 1900. Both very good copies. The blue boards have some marking to the front panel, which casts this title down from near fine grading. The top and tail of the spine is bumped and the gilt remains intact. The text blocks are markedly clean, though slightly soiled at the bottom. The internals are markedly clean, though the front fly is slightly toned. It is free from previous owners inscriptions. With ‘Quay Street’ to the pastedown advertisements. The corners are else sharp and the hinges intact. This is a very good copy.
Three Men on the Bummel, published 1900, is in very similar condition to that of Three Men in a Boat. There is slight external rubbing to the hinge on both sides, and at the spine tips. The front hinge has some internal wear – small name. This is also a very good copy.
