James Shaw – The March Out – First Edition 1953 – with the John Minton dust jacket
£185.00
A first edition, first printing of The March Out by James Shaw, published by Rupert Hart-Davis in 1953. A very good book with a previous owner’s inscription and date on the front paste down, similarly to the rear paste down and initials on the title page in blue ink, with some pushing to the lower corner of the front board and browning with spotting to the text block. In a very good unclipped wrapper with chipping to the front fold knuckle and chipping and tear to the rear fold knuckle, with small tears to the head of the spine with internal repair and chipping to the base of the spine, with internal browning and spotting. Jacket design by John Minton.
March Out by James Shaw captures the essence of resilience and self-discovery through the metaphor of a journey. Shaw’s lyrical prowess weaves a narrative of overcoming obstacles and finding inner strength amidst adversity. With vivid imagery and emotive language, the poem invites readers to embark on a transformative voyage, where challenges become opportunities for growth. Through its powerful message, March Out inspires individuals to confront life’s trials with courage and determination, ultimately emerging triumphant.
