James Herriot – All Creatures Great And Small – First US Edition 1972 – SIGNED by Herriot and both Farnan Brothers with ephemera
£1,500.00
A signed first US edition hardcover copy of All Creatures Great & Small by James Herriot (St. Martin’s Press, 1972). Inscribed and signed by Herriot as well as Donald & Brian Sinclair, who signed here using their pseudonyms given them by Herriot: Tristan & Siegfried Farnon. Also included is a photocopy of a letter written and signed by Donald Sinclair and Herriot from their veterinary practice in the UK. Additionally, there are two newspaper clippings on the trio and a pamphlet for visitors of the countryside in which they practised. A stunning and unique set of collectibles.
The price clipped dust wrapper is protected in archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges, including chipping, creases and small tears. Board corners bumped. Binding mildly split in a few gutters but spine remains straight and binding is fairly strong on the whole. Writing on front endpapers, discussing the routine the person who compiled the signatures went through. This included lunch with the Farnan brothers and Herriot and what they had for lunch, as well as witnessing the nurture of four ferrets…
