James Bond – Birds of the West Indies – First UK Edition 1960
£375.00
A first edition, first printing of ‘Birds of the West Indies’ published by Collins in 1960. A near fine book without inscriptions. In the very good dust wrapper which has a little chipping to the spine tips and corners with some associated creasing and wear – not price clipped.
Upon Fleming’s death, Mary, James Bond’s wife wrote: “Despite having met him only once, there was a curious feeling of intimacy as if during that short day together in Jamaica, the two men had enjoyed a complete understanding of — and respect for — one other.” Fleming ‘lifted’ Bond’s name from a book on the shelves at his home in Goldeneye. The rest is history…
