First US edition, first printing of Raging Bull by Jake La Motta, published by Prentice-Hall in New Jersey, 1970. This is a near fine copy, inscription in black ink to the front free end paper, stating, “Master Copy/Please return to /Chartoff-Winkler productions/10125 W. Washington Blivd/Culver City, Calif 90230”. The boards in deep red publisher’s cloth, tarnished gilt titling to the spine, pushing to head and foot of spine, some staining to cloth on rear panel, text block with browning and spotted top edge. The near fine unclipped wrapper with fading to the spine, slight rubbing throughout and bumping and open tears at the spine tips, open tears at the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds and minor internal spotting. The property of Chartoff-Winkler Productions, the company behind the motion picture and a fabulous association. Included with the book is a letter from lawyer Arthur I. Weinburg to Janet Crosby at Chartoff-Winkler Productions, asking her to return to Lenay Drucker, assistant to Associate Producer, Hal W. Polaire.
