Jack Higgins – The Eagle Has Landed – First UK Edition 1975
£125.00
First edition, first printing of The Eagle Has Landed by Jack Higgins, published by Collins, London, in 1975. This is a near fine copy with slight bumping to the head and foot of the spine, browning to the top edge of the text block with minor spotting, the end papers illustrated with the ‘General area of Hobs End and Studley Constable’. The boards are free from notable chips and marks and and the internals free from previous owners inscriptions. The wrapper with tear to the upper edge of the front panel, chipping to the head and foot of the spine, fading to the spine, two tears to the upper edge of the rear panel and chipping to the knuckles of the fron and rear flap folds. Illustrated by Barry Glynn.
The Eagle Has Landed, by Jack Higgins, is a gripping World War II thriller where German paratroopers, led by Colonel Steiner, infiltrate England to kidnap Winston Churchill. Disguised as Polish soldiers, they settle in a small village, planning the daring operation. The mission unfolds with intense suspense and unexpected twists, exploring themes of bravery, loyalty and deception. The novel, rich in historical detail and action, remains a classic of wartime espionage fiction. It was quickly adapted into a British film of the same name, directed by John Sturges and released in 1976 starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland, Jenny Agutter and Robert Duvall.
