First edition, first printing of ‘The Silmarillion’ by J R R Tolkien. Published by George Allen and Unwin, London, in 1977. This is a very good book. The dust wrapper is without notable wear, aside from a small closed tear to the spine – not been price clipped, showing the original 4.95 net price. The spine is sunned. The boards are free from chips and marks and the text blocks are slightly foxed. There are some slight spots of browning to the front flyleaf. The map in the rear is still present. Inscription to the front endpaper. This copy is in very good condition.
